Cookies

A cookie is a small text file a website leaves in your browser. Usually to remember something: that you are signed in, which language you read in, or which choice you made earlier. Alongside cookies, a website can use other browser storage such as localStorage. That works the same way, so we simply count it here too.

Cookies are not good or bad in themselves. The difference lies in what they are used for. A cookie that remembers your language does something other than a cookie that tracks which other websites you visit.

Two things. Both functional, both needed for the website to do what you ask of it, and both stay in your own browser. Nothing about them travels to us or to anyone else.

No consent is needed for these two: without the first the language switch does not work, and without the second we would have to ask for your choice over and over.

Separately, our hosting provider records technical data on every visit, such as your IP address and the page requested. Those are not cookies but server logs; they are described in the privacy statement.

That is a choice, not an accident. We build software for smaller firms and we think the visitor of a website should not be the product. As long as we cannot explain what a script adds for you, it is not on the site.

The cookie notice works with three categories. They are in place already, so that any script added later is bound by them straight away and nothing can quietly slip through.

• Necessary. The two items in the table above. Always on and not switchable, because without them the site does not work properly.
• Analytics. Shows us which parts of the site are used, so we can improve them. This covers Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or any other storage in your browser. More on this in the privacy statement.
• Marketing. Would make it possible to tailor advertising to your interests and measure its reach. Currently empty, and we do not intend to switch this on.

Analytics and marketing cookies are only placed after you give consent. If you decline, nothing happens, and the website works just the same.

On your first visit we ask what you want. We store that choice, and you are not stuck with it: you can change or withdraw it at any time.

A change applies from that moment on. Cookies placed earlier with your consent do not disappear automatically; you remove those through your browser, as described below.

Your browser is in charge of what sits in your browser. In its settings you can view cookies, delete them per website or block them altogether. Search for “cookies” in the settings of Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge; every browser does it slightly differently.

If you clear everything, our two functional items go as well. The site keeps working, but your language choice is forgotten and the cookie notice appears again.

If we add anything that gets stored in your browser, we update this page before it goes live and switch the notice back on so you can choose again. The date at the top shows when something last changed.
